ONKKO consulted with Trailside on refining and developing their concept for an innovative backpack that was designed specifically for mushroom foragers.

The client’s initial prototype relied on a wire frame to keep its structure but was having issues keeping its shape so we began by adding a cardboard frame as a proof of concept for a hard-sided bag instead. After that, we iterated with two internal samples before beginning the factory sampling process.

After some testing, the team decided that the bag was too large and that a 2 basket system would be better. Multiple new factory samples were designed, ordered and tested.

The final bag used a waxed canvas outer shell with two hanging bags that hang off of an internal structural frame.
